A Lady Crowned with Fleurs-de-lys: A Historical Novel
Chosen to be the bride of the young King of France, Charles, Isabella, a princess from the German duchy of Bavaria, is welcomed to the most magnificent court of Europe. She spends idyllic years with a loving husband and doting children. But the country is ripe with intrigues and political schemes hatched by the king’s ambitious uncles and brother, all of them trying to take advantage of the still simmering war between France and England for their own personal gain.
A drama enfolds that will forever change Isabella’s life and reputation. After a first attack of folly, Charles falls deeper and deeper into insanity. Desperate and alone, Isabella finds refuge in her brother-in-law’s love. When Louis is murdered she becomes a pawn in the political intrigues that are ripping France apart and her worst instincts take over as she abandons herself to a life of greed, sex, pleasures, and selfishness. She becomes “Isabeau of Bavaria” – a foreigner in the eyes of her people – dishonoring her husband and herself when she declares her son Charles, the rightful future king of France, to be illegitimate.
When she dies, a few years after her husband, and when her son at last does become Charles VII, nobody remembers the gracious princess from Germany who enchanted them all on her wedding day at the side of the young King. They think only of the corrupted woman whose name has become synonymous with depravity and blind ambition.$19.99 -
Caledonia Lost: The Fall of the Confederacy
“During the siege of Petersburg at the end of the American Civil War, a Confederate soldier, manning the trenches, reflects on life, love, and the War, while awaiting the climactic battle of the Breakthrough.”
Caledonia Lost: The Fall of the Confederacy tells the epic tale of a young Confederate soldier, James Augustus McEachern, hunkered down in the trenches of the besieged City of Petersburg in the hours before the climactic battle of the Breakthrough, in which the Union Army overruns the Confederate Army, leading to the surrender at Appomattox. James retells, in mental ‘letters’ to his wife, his experiences in the War. His story starts with joining the militia during the heady days after Lincoln’s election and South Carolina’s secession. Next, he recalls the firing upon Ft. Sumter. Joining Wade Hampton’s Legion, he is brigaded with John Bell Hood’s legendary Texans. Seriously wounded at Seven Pines, he still participates in Lee’s first victory at Gaines’ Mill. His exploits include fighting in many of the greatest battles of the Civil War in both the eastern and western theatres of the War, such as Antietam, Second Manassas, and the siege of Chattanooga, and as well as on lesser known fields of honor, such as Wauhatchie and Riddell’s Shop. Uniquely, he serves as infantry and as mounted infantry. His ‘letters’ to his wife reveals the depth of their relationship and the sacrifices each has made for the other. Through the War, he comes to know some of the most famous Generals of the Confederacy, including A. P. Hill, James Longstreet, and Braxton Bragg. Has this prepared him for the greatest charge of the Civil War-the Breakthrough-and its consequences, including watching Richmond burn to the ground?
Caledonia Lost: The Fall of the Confederacy is the result of years of research. This journey has taken the author to the National Archives to find the actual military records of James Augustus McEachern, as well as surveying the battlefields of the Siege of Petersburg and Breakthrough at Pamplin Park, and all the other battles recounted in the novel. Finally, Caledonia Lost: The Fall of the Confederacy employs actual letters written by James to his wife, Victoria, during the War.
William D. McEachern lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, with his wife. He is a father and a grandfather. Mr. McEachern received his B. A. from Duke University, his Juris Doctor Degree from Fordham University School of Law, and his Master’s in Law Degree in Taxation was from New York University School of Law. He practiced trusts, estates, and tax law for 39 years, before becoming a full time historian, writing novels of historical fiction. An avid reader of history, he thoroughly researches and travels extensively to lend authenticity and realism to his works. To write Caledonia Lost: The Fall of the Confederacy, Mr. McEachern visited, among other battlefields, the site of the Breakthrough, preserved in Pamplin Park in Petersburg, Virginia on numerous occasions and consulted with numerous Civil War historians. His areas of expertise include the Roman Empire, Early Christianity, Scotland, and United States History with a particular emphasis on the American Revolution and the Civil War. Mr. McEachern’s first novel, Casting Lots, the life story of the Centurion who presided over the Crucifixion, garnered excellent reviews. His 2nd novel, Caledonia: A Song of Scotland, explored Scottish history up to the Battle of Culloden and the beginning of the Highland Clearances. New Caledonia: A Song of America, the 2nd novel in the Caledonia series, follows the Scots migration from Scotland to America, as they walk the Great Wagon Road and finally settle in North and South Carolina during the era of the French and Indian War and the America Revolution. Caledonia Lost: The Fall of the Confederacy is the story of the experiences of a Scot from South Carolina fighting for the Confederacy in the days just before the end of the Civil War.

About the author:
I was born in Manhattan, New York, but was raised in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina by Kathy and Oliver Burns Jr. I have two sisters, Allison Burns and Olivia Jenkins, a brother, Oliver Burns III, and a huge loving family. I fell in love with the written word in the ninth grade after reading Charles Dickens, “Great Expectations.” I loved the way he weaved together characters and events to create mystery. I received my B.A. from Charleston Southern University and my M.B.A. from Jones International University.
Duties of the Heart developed through lots of small stories and experiences twisted into my favorite kind of book, Fantasy Romance, where the possibilities are limitless. At the end, a whole new enchanted world was created. I hope you enjoy it.

Escape From Manchuria: The Rescue of 1.7 Million Japanese Civilians Trapped in Soviet-occupied Manchuria Following the End of World War II
In the closing days of WWII, the Soviet Union attacked and occupied Japanese-controlled northern China, then called Manchuria. Immediately, misery and death from cold, hunger, disease, and brutality descended on the Japanese civilians at the hands of the Soviet Army and revenge-seeking mobs and bandits. Nearly 2,500 Japanese, mostly the elderly and children, died daily. Three courageous Japanese men embarked on a secret mission and escaped to Japan to eventually bring about an end to the Manchurian nightmare. In a riveting story, a son of the leader of the three courageous men narrates to readers a compelling tale of the rescue and repatriation of nearly 1.7 million abandoned non-combatant Japanese that began almost a year after Japan’s surrender. The book describes the indispensable part that General Douglas MacArthur played in the repatriation and discloses the role played by the Catholic Church in Manchuria and Japan in assisting the three men to achieve success. The heroics of the three men have not been fully recognized, even in Japan, because they took on the mission of rescue as private citizens, without the consent or knowledge of the then-utterly helpless Japanese government.

Four Princesses from Provence
During the Middle Ages noble women were often pawns in the great game of dynastic politics. But some of them were important players in their own right. The four daughters of the Count of Provence used their charms, beauty, and intelligence to move from their father’s small kingdom in the south of France to positions of power across Europe. Marguerite, Eleanor, and Sancha became queens of France, England, and the Kingdom of Sicily. They followed their husbands to new homes where they gave their new lands children and a family life. But the fourth daughter, Beatrice, was different. The man she loved was a political enemy; the man she married was an indifferent and self-absorbed prince who made it clear that political intrigue was more important to him than the love of a gentle and romantic girl from another country. The only happy moments Beatrice enjoyed were spent in secrecy with her lover. But the stakes of her emotional attachment were high and the dangers of a misstep were always great. Based on research into the history of Europe in the thirteenth century and on travel to all of the destinations where these princesses lived, this novel depicts a crucial period as Europe emerged from the slumber of the Dark Ages and began to awake slowly to the promise of modern life.

Quicksand is a page-turner you won’t be able to put down!
“This author has certainly done his research. … His ability to keep readers entertained with the [actual] historical facts, as well as romance and corruption, adds to the excitement. The author has done an extraordinary job of describing events, corruption, and seedy characters. Readers will feel as if they were right there. Quicksand is scary, informational and very entertaining.” Carol Hoyer, PhD., for Reader Views.

Preserve, Protect, and Defend the Constitution
By Bill Terrel
I find this difficult if not impossible. If you so desire we can eliminate the biography part, however I understand that most readers require knowledge of the author – believe me I tried to keep it short and to the point (most reports that I received found this a very interesting part of my book. Then of course there are those who disagree with my including the Bill of Rights and the Constitution it is absolutely necessary for these documents to be included in my book the readers can simply pass over them and when needed, they can study them at their leisure (they are there for this reason) this book covers a vast array of modern history, briefly mentioning the Constitution and how it was formed and what it means today. Without this instrument to guide and protect us we will fail to exist. Therefore it is of the utmost importance that we stress to all Americans – the old and the young alike, all ages must be fully aware not just of the first are the second amendment but the entire document as a nation we have grown complacent, take things for granted this has to be reversed we must be fully aware and make damn sure that all of our political bodies regardless of their affiliation live by an rule by the Constitution. The oath of office as sworn too with one’s hand on the Bible, I swear to Preserve, ProTech and Defend the Constitution of the United States of America. This oath is meaningless as it is administered today we must pass a law that particularly the president of the United States varies in any respect from performing that duty the sanctioned in the most severe manner possible.

The Black American: A Documentary History
The Black American: A Documentary History by Glen P. Watkins, author. The purpose of this work is to present an overall view of the black race in American culture from slavery until 1992. The long voyage across the Atlantic involved weeks of nightmarish misery, suffering, and death. Slaves were kept in close quarters of ships with little space between the decks. They were manacled except when taken to the top deck for exercise while their quarters were being cleaned with vinegar. This was a journey of horror marked by death from dysentery, small pox, and the yaws. Some slaves committed suicide by the strange African method of swallowing the tongue. Destined to become an integral part of American history, the presence of African Americans markedly shaped the life and history of the 13 colonies. By many measures, the relative position of African Americans has scarcely improved. Undoubtedly, many have made impressive gain, but after more than 40 years, the majority has not sufficiently improved their relative standing. African Americans and other ethnic groups have acquired limited progress in social mobility. This exciting history is a part of all American regardless of ethnicity or social standing and should be known by all Americans. Learn the story in The Black American: A Documentary History.
