Maryland – Lord Baltimore’s Dream
By Bill Hart
Bill Hart has lived his entire life in and around Baltimore Maryland. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and his MBA from the University of Baltimore. After a thirty seven year career at McCormick and Company as VP of Global Information Technology, he became an entrepreneur owning several internet based businesses as well as a securities trader. He decided to write a book about the history of Maryland and the important role both Maryland and Baltimore played in the development of the United States. Although this book is an historical fiction, it is based on stories of his family that have been passed down through the generations. The book, Maryland, Lord Baltimore's Dream is the first part of a two book series about how and why the colony was founded. The second book in the series, Maryland, The Story Continues will be coming out soon. He sincerely hopes you enjoy reading these two books as much as he enjoyed writing them.

Maryland: The Story Continues
By Bill Hart
My first book, Lord Baltimore’s Dream, set the stage for the sequel, The Story Continues. In the first book a great deal of European history was used to explain why and how the state of Maryland came into being, and the important role both Maryland and the city of Baltimore played in the history of this country. Through the story of the of the Kerr family, I explained why people would leave their homes and lives to venture into an unknown, primitive, and dangerous land. We have been told that religious intolerance and class prejudice were the primary reasons, but through my story we learned that most people who came here, came for very personal reasons. We also learned that those who came here created all of the same societal problems they tried to leave behind.
In this book the story of Maryland continues as the Kerr family lives through all of the trials and tribulations of a new but maturing country. Sectionalism, slavery, war, economic catastrophe, prejudice and hypocrisy would profoundly affect the Kerr family and nearly destroy the country. All of these events, along with a family legend dating back to the family’s patriarch, lead to a very exciting ending. For those who read my first book and were left with loose ends, will find then all tied together in the second book.

WE MET AT OUR assigned meeting place, got out of our vehicles, hugged and I then started to move her things to my truck. I opened the back door to allow her to put her picnic stuff on the back seat, and she stopped dead in her tracks! She asked me, “Why do you have a chain saw in your back seat?”$9.32 -
Memories of My Misadventures
Peter VanNest grew up in a religious and somewhat dysfunctional family during World War II. In later life, he recalls some of the incidents from his late elementary and junior high years, reflecting on how he seemed to have a penchant for getting into trouble. His talent for innocently blundering into misadventure is both amusing and thought-provoking. He ruminates about religion, shares his curiosity about sex, gets into trouble with the family car, and acts out his fascination with fire. Each of the 15 stories, which are recounted with humor and sensitivity, will take you back to your own early years, and make you grateful that you survived your youthful indiscretions.

Mepham High School
Mepham High School is a highly-detailed, well-written story that occurred during the nineteen forties which takes the reader on a journey in time and culture that captures interest and attention. All incidents and much of the dialogue are accurate. Names are fictitious except for Jack Solomons, Sal D’Angelo’s best friend who edited several of his books.
Though the story includes Mepham losing its one hundred first wrestling match after a hundred consecutive wins, it is about Sal D’Angelo’s high school life. Though an intelligent regent student, he has trouble with school work because of attention deficit disorder and his difficulty adjusting to teen behavior.
Sal also has trouble coping with his dysfunctional parents. An outstanding flutist as a staff musician playing on NBC and CBS, Dad is egotistical, materialistic, and conservative. He is also domineering, unjust and stern. Catering to Dad’s chauvinistic ways, Mom is unhappy. Treated like a slave, because of Dad’s income, she tolerates him, often bragging to musician friends about never washing a dish. Nor does either parent praise Sal or his sister about anything.
Though loving and possessing a good personality, Sal is bashful with girls, especially since most belong to cliques that associate with boys with varsity letters in sports. Nevertheless, naively curious about the world and stunned while listening to news about the casualties during World War II, he eventually develops an iconoclastic way of thinking, yet with a sense of humor. Absentmindedly noting little things around him like leaves on trees, insects, and the ballerinas printed in the wall paper at home suggests that Sal isn’t as maladjusted as he thinks. In fact, he is like most teens his age.
