MIRACULOUS: TRUE STORY OF THE CHILD AND PADRE OF GUADALCANAL
During World War II, this “Child of Miracles” gives hope to thousands of Marines during some of the deadliest battles in the Pacific.
The story opens with fierce battles raging between the Japanese and Marines for control of Henderson airfield on Guadalcanal. During these battles, natives on the island find a wounded child of six in the jungle. Padre’s prayer vigil brings her back from near-death. He coincidentally names her “Patsy Li.”
The saga then takes us back to early 1942, where a child is fleeing from Singapore with her mother aboard a crowded evacuation ship. Suddenly the ship sinks. Separated and set adrift in treacherous waters, mother and child survive. The mother never gives up the search for her child.
Many years later, a reunification meeting of Patsy at the orphanage with her possible mother. When all seems lost, unexpected evidence appears that suggests that Patsy might indeed be her long lost child.
They both become U.S. citizens with the help of Padre’s official contacts. Patsy Li ultimately overcomes her traumatic experiences, until a later DNA test changes everything—or does it?
Captain Rev. Frederic P. Gehring was the First Naval Chaplain to receive the Legion of Merit Medal from the President of United States, and the Presidential Unit Citation, for his heroic work on Guadalcanal.

Miz Bambo
Carol Craig Cowan-Lanyon had an idyllic childhood. Her mother, “Miz Bambo,” embodied comfort, filling her world with art and magic. Her father kept her safe and told her she could be anything she wanted to be. But when Carol’s father died just before her fifteenth birthday, the foundations began to crack. Without warning, Bambo became volatile and impossible to please. And at the end of Carol’s sophomore year in college, Bambo disrupted all of her plans for the future with a declaration: they would be spending the next year abroad. What followed was the adventure of a lifetime. Though rooming with her mother didn’t exactly represent the bohemian freedom Carol had yearned for, their experiences together would teach her how much she still had to learn about the world-and force her to grow up in ways she couldn’t have anticipated. Miz Bambo tells the story of a unique mother-daughter bond, and of mysteries that will forever remain unsolved.

Mommy, Why Am I Superhero Too?
About the Book
“With her humble crayons, Silvia creates an illustrated storybook that follows a child’s wondering about his changing world in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. What makes this story different, and enduring is that as the child explores the big city where he lives through his window; he discovers that his dad, an immigrant supermarket delivery man, is a superhero of the pandemic but his dad has a different idea about who the real superhero of these times is!”About the Author
“Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Silvia’s work as an educator, child parent psychotherapist, and clinical social worker has been centered on a deep love and respect for the internal world of the child. In 2010, Silvia discovered, through the deeply transformative experience at the Infant Parent Mental Health Fellowship at the University of Massachusetts, led by Dr. Ed Tronick that creating cuentos, or short illustrated stories for children, could give a powerful voice to the Latino-American immigrant mothers with whom she has worked for the last twenty-five years. She published her first cuento, “”Mommy, tell me, how you got here?” (bilingual edition) in 2013. This book creates a dialogue that helps these mothers remember, share and embrace their untold stories with their children. Silvia expanded this story in her second cuento, “Mommy, tell me, why did you come here?” (bilingual edition). Silvia’s books have been well received internationally, most recently at the 2018 Guadalajara International Book Fair, where she was guest speaker, the 2018 Frankfurter Buchmesse, and the 2019 International Academic Migration Conference in Bari, Italy.
Silvia has written and illustrated many “cuentos,” inspired by the courage, love and hope of the immigrant families she works with. Some of them will be published; some of them will be used only in the intimacy of her psychotherapeutic work and some of them will remain in her heart. Every time Silvia creates a “cuento,” she hopes to honor her Abuelo “Bigotes,” the magical storyteller of her childhood.
Silvia was the Connecticut Infant Mental Health Association 2014 Jane C. Bourns Award recipient for Excellence and Exemplary Service to Young Children and their Families in the Field of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health.”
