From Homeless to Heaven

Usually Cody Cambres had to do ranch work alone in the winter. However, he had a standing order with an employment agency for an employee. One winter he was surprised to get a call saying a man would be on the bus that evening. Alan told Cody that he wanted a job and a warm place to sleep instead of living outdoors as a homeless man. Alan had refused to stay in any mission shelter because of life experiences involving religion. He does enjoy ranch work. In the spring Cody and Alan are checking cows and the calves born that spring when a bullet hits Alan. Later a bullet from the same rifle kills Cody’s best horse. Fire begins on Cody’s ranch and spreads. Aimi’s house burns down and Aimi’s husband is murdered by a bullet from the same rifle. Alan helps both Cody and Aimi with ranch work.
Friendship develops.

In the process of creating one of her many journals, Corrine added her handprint to each journal page. She squeezed ample amounts of acrylic paint onto a large paper plate, choosing colors that seemed appropriate to that day’s entry… some days called for bright, cheery colors while other days were dark and moody. Occasionally, there was even a need for a touch of glittery gold paint! Corrine wiggled her open palm around in the wet paint, mixing the colors and then stamped a full handprint on the page, nally writing around the handprint. Somehow, becoming physically involved with the paint was almost as therapeutic as the actual writing. “Feeling the thick paint on my hand seemed to relieve the stress of the moment and sometimes added to the playfulness of the process,” Corrine described.

Navy veteran. He was fifth from his family to have served WW II. Graduated from LeTourneau University and joined LeTourneau Del Peru in 1954 on a project to build 32 miles of road in the upper Amazon Jungle of Peru.Returning to the states in 1956 he joined New York State Office of Mental Health as senior engineer on projects throughout the state. Retired December 1981 and immediately was appointed as project engineer for the Army Corp of Engineer on a project for 22 miles of tunnels under Rochester New York. Retired in December 1991 but continued on several small projects until 1998.
Howard, is not just good at building airstrips, roads or tunnels but he also has a very kind heart. He has been very active with church works and has dedicated his life to help the community. He has been part of Mission trips around the world to mention he has been to Peru, Mali, Ghana, Ireland and Haiti.

Ned E. Hoopingarner was born to Dee W. and Leura Maude Hoopingarner on December 17, 1924 in Uniondale, Indiana. He grew up in Zanesville, Indiana, and graduated from East Union Center High School in 1943. Ned in 1943 was drafted in the US Army and served three years in World War II in Honolulu, Hawaii at First Haftner Army Base.
Ned was released from the army in 1946 and for the next twenty years worked for his dad who owned a lumber yard and construction company. In 1966, Ned, then president of the lumber company, decided along with his brother Neil to sell the business and move to Florida. About the Author
Dr. Carol J. Pryor was born in Jackson, Michigan by the Late Deacon Willis Pryor, Sr. and Mother Flora B., as they served God wholeheartedly as examples for each of the eight out of nine born to strive to achieve all. Her grandfather established one of the first Church of God in Christ in southern Illinois during 1917. The church was later renamed the Pryor Memorial Church of God in Christ, in Villa Ridge, Illinois; fondly named Pryor Town, since all occupants are related to the Pryor family. Dr. Carol received degrees in education from Jackson Community College and Eastern University, which certified her as an elementary teacher, teaching children from kindergarten through nineth grades in Flint, Michigan. After retirement from Flint Community School District in 2007, she retired and relocated to Houston, Texas. She challenged herself to pursue higher education, by achieving her Master and a Doctorate Degrees from the North Carolina College of Theology in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2011.
