A HISTORY OF ORTHOPEDICS portrays the beginning of orthopedic surgery from ancient times to the current era. It follows the gradual development of a specialty from Egypt to the European continent and England and from there to the United States of America. After the discovery of anesthesia and x-rays in the 19th century, a more rapid development of surgical endeavors led to the current situation where arthroscopy could view and treat deranged joint mechanics, and painful arthritic joints could be replaced. Many of the important persons who helped reach this current state are listed with their contributions. Whereas in the 19th century orthopedic surgery was still considered part of general surgery, in the 20th century the two specialties became separated. In addition, there was a struggle between conservative practitioners (the “Strap and Buckle” doctors) and those who felt surgical intervention provided better results.

Retired Orthopedic Surgeon Justin Howland practiced orthopedics in Redding, California for 28 years. After graduating from Yale University, he received his MD degree from N.Y. Medical College. He interned at Kaiser in San Francisco, and his residency was at Fitzsimons in Denver. After a tour in Europe and a stint as Chief of Orthopedics at Fort Dix, N. J., he and his family (five children) returned to California.

When Grei decided to take on the human experience, she entered difficult times, as expected. However, she wanted to learn more and experience more. Having grown weary of her life as a cat, she visited the Tree of Choices and gained entrance into the world of humans. When she endured a myriad of negative life experiences in a short period of time, she wearily stopped at a coffee shop to be alone and reflect upon the experiences. She then received “shimmers of truth” (wisdom) in abundance.
This novel is about spiritual growth as Grei finds out what it is like to acquire wisdom during adversity by seeking the scriptures for the insight. This story takes the reader on a journey of how Grei entered other dimensions of being by thinking abstractly about her various experiences and opening her heart and mind to receive spiritual messages. Climacosa is a 40-year old Master’s level student in counseling, certified alcohol and drug counselor in the state of New Jersey, sister, aunt, daughter, musician and caretaker of her multiple adopted and rescued cats at her newly bought home in New Jersey. 1968 wurde ich eingeschult und erhielt meine Abschluss 1978. Danach ging ich zur Berufsschule um den Beruf der Schneiderin zuerlernen. Ich konnte diese Lehre nicht abschliessen, da meine Familie verhaftet wurde. Der Grund für unsere Festnahme war, versuchte Republikflucht nach West Deutschland.
Dies gescharr im Juli 1979.
1981 wurden meinen Eltern und ich in die Bundesrepulik West Deutland entlassen.
1999 siedelte ich über nach Amerika, zu der Zeit hatte ich bereite 2 Söhne.
Mein Buch enthält die mächtige Geschichte meines Lebens.
Ich bin froh das ich überlebt habe um meine Geschichte zu erzählen und hoffe das ich den Menschen damit Augen öffnen kann.
Da wir in ungewissen Zeiten leben und verstehen sollten, das uns die Freiheit nicht für umsonst gegeben wird.
Ich bin dankbar für was ich erreicht habe im Leben, doch mein Kampf ist noch nicht zu Ende.

Dave Scherling grew up in Northern Minnesota and is retired from the State of Florida – Airport Engineer – and from The US Navy Reserve as a Civil Engineer Corps officer. He served as a missionary in Brazil and in Indonesia. Dave and his wife, Delores, now live in Milaca, Minnesota, during the summers and in Brooksville, Florida, in the winters, enjoying volunteer mission work and playing with their fifteen grandchildren.
The Land of Crickets is a historical satire about a boy named Tommy that was born in 1932, on an Indian farm in Oklahoma. This story is told by his supernatural self which is a Lysol Baby that woke up in “The Land of Lysol” at the time of his birth in 1932. The author attempts to show how the standards of human behavior changed during his lifetime. He describes a land where God’s children are taught to love rather than hate following what he calls the “The Great Explosion” or the apocalypse.

The author is a retired psychologist that was born in Oklahoma and has lived in Texas for 52 years. He spent thirteen years teaching in the public schools and higher education. Following his teaching he served thirty-five years as a psychologist at the Veterans Hospital in Waco Texas.
