  • Oscar The Oak Leaf

Oscar the Oak Leaf is a children’s picture book that tells the story of an oak leaf going through the circle of life.

    About the author:

Phyllis Keane Oswald was born and raised in Michigan, the middle of three girls. Her mother and others taught her an appreciation of God’s creation, and she truly enjoys the outdoors. In 1955, after two years of college, she married her loving husband, Dale. After serving two years in the army in Virginia, they moved to Connecticut. She worked various office jobs, and when her son, Mike, was born, she became a stay-at-home mom. After Mike was in school, she became a volunteer, reading with school children, driving neighbors to medical appointments through FISH (Friends in Service Here). Cancer Society, and many activities in their church. For thirteen years, Dale and Phyllis ran the Book Buddy program for their church and read with the Head Start Children in Windsor, Connecticut, about twice a month. She has read many children’s books and decided to write the story about Oscar, the oak leaf. Things Phyllis enjoys are time with her family, working in her yard, baking and photography—especially close ups of flowers.
